Ephesians
2:13 But now, in union with the Messiah Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.
2:14 For it is he who is our peace. Through his mortality he made both groups one by tearing down the wall of hostility that divided them.
2:15 He rendered the Law inoperative, along with its commandments and regulations, thus creating in himself one new humanity from the two, thereby making peace,
2:16 and reconciling both groups to God in one body through the cross, on which he eliminated the hostility.

The verses we just read, mention the “blessing of having been brought near.” I suppose that the true blessing lies in the peace and security of the people. Mr. Kenji Goto acted for this purpose. He sought peace and security, but he could not get it because he was captured and murdered by the Islamic State. This happened because this present world is ruled by the Devil. We cannot expect to obtain true peace and security in this world. It simply makes our lives much more difficult. However, when we think of what Jesus has accomplished for us, it makes us feel blessed. Our lives cannot be terminated by anything, even by death. This belief makes all believers of Jesus live constructive lives in peace. No matter how hard the reality that lies in front of their eyes,they do not need to worry at all. Of course, there is one thing they should always keep in mind: unless they have peace and security in their own minds, it is impossible to build a world of peace and security no matter how hard they strive; it is an empty and meaningless effort. After all, true peace and security are matters that relate to personal characteristics.

今日のテーマは何ですか・・・・ときかれた時、「天国で会いましょう」と言った時、輝いた顔もあったのです。「天国で会いましょう。」もうちょっとね。イエス様は、迎えに来られると考えると、本当にうれしい。

ドイツのある出版社の息子が、テレビ局の人からきかれたのです。テレビ局とは、結局、おもしろいことを宣伝したいのではないかと思いますけども、彼は何をきかれたかと言いますと、「あなたにとって、いちばん大きなショックになるのは、いったい何でしょうかね。癌になることですか？全財産をいっぺんに失くすことなのでしょうか？あるいは、一生涯車いすの上で生活するの」と聞かれた時、答えは、「もし、神がおられれば、それこそ、考えられないほど恐ろしいことです」と、言ったのです。

今、兄弟はソロモンについて話してくださいました。私は、彼についての一文章を、非常に好きになってしまった。聖書の言葉です、『ソロモンは主を愛した。』我々、一人ひとりについて、同じことを言えれば、ありがたいでしょうか。愛しているよと、思うかもしれないけど、本当かどうかが、問題なのではないでしょうか。

4:15 For we declare to you what the Lord has told us to say: We who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have died.

4:16 With a shout of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will come down from heaven, and the dead who belong to the Messiah will rise first.

4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and worship God in reverence and fear in a way that pleases him.

In the last verse we just read, the expression, “a kingdom that cannot be shaken” is used. I took the title of this sermon from here. I would like to divide this discussion into three parts.

Firstly, what are the characteristics of the kingdom of God? Secondly, what do we need to do to prepare for the kingdom of God? Thirdly, how did the Lord himself prepare his kingdom of God in advance? Let me read one more verse.

18:6 主は言われた。「不正な裁判官の言っていることを聞きなさい。

18:7 まして神は、夜昼神を呼び求めている選民のためにさばきをつけないで、いつまでもそのことを放っておかれることがあるでしょうか。

18:8 あなたがたに言いますが、神は、すみやかに彼らのために正しいさばきをしてくださいます。しかし、人の子が来たとき、はたして地上に信仰が見られるでしょうか。」

18:27 イエスは言われた。「人にはできないことが、神にはできるのです。」

最後にお読みになりました箇所は、本当に喜びの訪れなのではないでしょうか。「人にはできないことが、神にはできるのです。」不可能が可能となること――これを今日の主題にしましょうか。不可能と思われることでも、すべてがそのように不可能であるとは限りません。

18:1 Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray all the time and never give up.
18:2 He said, “In a city there was a judge who didn’t fear God or respect people.
18:3 In that city there was also a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
18:4 For a while the judge refused. But later, he told himself, ‘I don’t fear God or respect people,
18:5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice. Otherwise, she will keep coming and wear me out.’”
18:6 Then the Lord added, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
18:7 Won’t God grant his chosen people justice when they cry out to him day and night? Is he slow to help them?
18:8 I tell you, he will give them justice quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

18:27 Jesus replied, “The things that are impossible for people are possible for God.”

The very last verse we just read gives us the reason to rejoice, doesn't it? “The things that are impossible for people are possible for God.” The impossible turns possible; I would like to make this the subject of today's sermon. Not all things that seem impossible to us are impossible in a real sense.
