ピリピ
1:20 それは、私がどういうばあいにも恥じることなく、いつものように今も大胆に語って、生きるにしても、死ぬにしても、私の身によって、キリストのすばらしさが現わされることを求める私の切なる願いと望みにかなっているのです。
1:21 私にとっては、生きることはキリスト、死ぬこともまた益です。

今、読んできてくださった箇所とは、パウロの個人的な告白でもあり、彼の喜びの源でした。すなわち、いつになるかわからないけど、近いうちに殺されるかもしれない。ピリピ人への手紙は、刑務所で中で書かれた手紙です。ですから、出られるかどうか、殺されるかどうか、全くわからなかった。けど、彼は何の心配も、恐れもなかった。行く先は、決まっている。

18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.
18:3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, look, he wrought a work on the wheels.
18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter. so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
18:5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
18:6 Oh house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? says the Lord. Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in mine hand, Oh house of Israel.

29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Today, I’d like us to think about the same subject we discussed last week, 'God as the Merciful Potter'. This last verse was a wonderful message from the Lord, which was sent through Jeremiah.

18:3 私が陶器師の家に下って行くと、ちょうど、彼はろくろで仕事をしているところだった。
18:4 陶器師は、粘土で制作中の器を自分の手でこわし、再びそれを陶器師自身の気に入ったほかの器に作り替えた。
18:5 それから、私に次のような主のことばがあった。
18:6 「イスラエルの家よ。この陶器師のように、わたしがあなたがたにすることができないだろうか。――主の御告げ。――見よ。粘土が陶器師の手の中にあるように、イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたも、わたしの手の中にある。

29:11 わたしはあなたがたのために立てている計画をよく知っているからだ。――主の御告げ。――それはわざわいではなくて、平安を与える計画であり、あなたがたに将来と希望を与えるためのものだ。

今日、もう一回、前に始まったテーマ、すなわち、『恵みに富みたもう陶器師なる神』について、一緒に考えたいと思います。

最後に読みました箇所とは、エレミヤの宣べ伝えたすばらしいメッセージでしたね。

Psalms

33:8 Let all the earth fear the Lord. let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

33:18 Look, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

103:13 Like as a father pities his children, so the Lord pities them that fear him.

128:1 Blessed is every one that fears the Lord. that walks in his ways.

128:4 Look, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the Lord.

We can see from these verses in the Psalms what the whole Bible is telling us, summed up in a single phrase: Those who fear the Lord will be blessed. If the Lord cannot bless you, then there is no hope for you. Thus, there is nothing more important than to fear the Lord.

詩篇
33:8 全地よ。主を恐れよ。世界に住む者よ。みな、主の前におののけ。

33:18 見よ。主の目は主を恐れる者に注がれる。その恵みを待ち望む者に。

103:13 父がその子をあわれむように、主は、ご自分を恐れる者をあわれまれる。

128:1 幸いなことよ。すべて主を恐れ、主の道を歩む者は。

128:4 見よ。主を恐れる人は、確かに、このように祝福を受ける。

今の詩篇の箇所を読んでもわかりますけども、聖書全体の言っていることとは、主を恐れる人々とは、祝福されます。主が祝福することができなければ、もうおしまいです。したがって、もっとも大切なのは、主を恐れることです。
