Isaiah

14:13 You said in your heart, ‘I’ll ascend to heaven, above the stars of God. I’ll erect my throne; I’ll sit on the Mount of Assembly in the far reaches of the north;

14:14 I’ll ascend above the tops of the clouds; I’ll make myself like the Most High.’

14:15 But you are brought down to join the dead, to the far reaches of the Pit.

14:16 “Those who see you will stare at you. They will wonder about you: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who made kingdoms quake,

14:17 who made the world like a desert, who destroyed its cities, who would not open the jails for his prisoners?’

28:13 You used to be in Eden― God’s paradise! You wore precious stones for clothing: ruby, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and carbuncle. Your settings were crafted in gold, along with your engravings. On the day of your creation they had been prepared!

2 Samuel
12:13 At this point, David told Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan responded to David, “There’s one other thing: the Lord has forgiven your sin. You won’t die.
12:14 Nevertheless, because you have despised the Lord’s enemies with utter contempt, the son born to you will most certainly die.”
12:15 Then Nathan went home. After this, the Lord afflicted the child that Uriah’s wife had born to David, and the child became very ill.
12:16 David begged God on behalf of the youngster. He fasted, went inside, and spent the night lying on the ground.
12:17 His closest advisors at the palace got up, remained with him, and tried to help him get up from the ground, but he would not do so. He also wouldn’t eat with them.
12:18 A week later, the child died, and David’s staff was afraid to tell him that the child had died. They were telling themselves, “Look, when the child was still alive, we talked to him but he wouldn’t listen to what we said. Now what kind of trouble will he bring on himself if we tell him that the child has died?”
12:19 But as David observed his staff whispering together, he perceived that the child had died, so he asked his staff, “Is the child dead?” They replied, “He has died.”
12:20 At this, David got up from the ground, washed, anointed himself, changed his clothes, and went into the Lord’s tent to worship. Then he went back to his palace where, at his request, they served him food and he ate.

As was just mentioned, today's subject is, “The plan of the Lord”, that is to say, “The plan of the Lord that covers from eternity to eternity.” I would like to discuss with you briefly about the plan of salvation.

As is written in the Ecclesiastes, he made everything, not 99 per cent, but completely and in its appropriate time. Furthermore, no person can fully comprehend what God does from beginning to end.

[International Standard Version]

Throughout human history, the devil has always made desperate attempts to keep people away from understanding the importance of the redemption accomplished through the blood of Jesus. For example, the Divine Principle which is the textbook used by the Unification Church makes no mention at all about the blood of Jesus. The word 'blood' does not appear even once.

Let us look at what is written in the Quran, which is the religious text of Islam. It is written that Jesus did not die on the cross and no blood was shed. However, it is clearly stated in our Bible.

Hebrews
9:22 In fact, under the Law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of the blood there is no forgiveness.

1:5 People from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were flocking to him, being baptized by him while they confessed their sins.

1:6 Now John was dressed in camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist. He ate grasshoppers and wild honey.

1:7 He kept proclaiming, “The one who is coming after me is stronger than I am, and I am not worthy to bend down and untie his sandal straps.

1:8 I baptized you with water, but it is he who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

1:9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

1:10 Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

1:11 Then a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you!”

1:12 At once the Spirit drove him into the wilderness.

1:13 He was in the wilderness for 40 days being tempted by Satan. He was among wild animals, and angels were ministering to him.

1:14 Now after John had been arrested, Jesus went to Galilee and proclaimed the gospel about the kingdom of God.

6:1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their own masters as deserving of the highest respect, so that the name of God and our teaching may not be discredited.

6:2 Moreover, those who have believing masters should be respectful to them, because they are fellow believers. In fact, they must serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dear to them. These are the things you must teach and exhort.

6:3 If anyone teaches false doctrine and refuses to agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and godly teaching,

6:4 he is a conceited person and does not understand anything. He has an unhealthy craving for arguments and debates. This produces jealousy, rivalry, slander, evil suspicions,

6:6 Of course, godliness with contentment does bring a great profit.

6:7 Nothing to this world we bring; from it take we nothing.

6:8 With food to eat and clothes to wear; content we are in everything.

6:9 But people who want to get rich keep toppling into temptation and are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires that plunge them into destruction and ruin.

Today, this sermon is titled “The Reason We Were Saved.” I would like to discuss why we were saved and what the mission given to the believers is.

Of course, it is unimaginably important to become Christians, that is to say, to be saved. To be saved is to obtain the true salvation through an understanding of the savior.

Needless to say, we will never be saved unless we seek the salvation. For this reason, the Lord gives us much pain and anguish. However, this does not mean that the Lord wants to make us suffer.

Ephesians
2:13 But now, in union with the Messiah Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.
2:14 For it is he who is our peace. Through his mortality he made both groups one by tearing down the wall of hostility that divided them.
2:15 He rendered the Law inoperative, along with its commandments and regulations, thus creating in himself one new humanity from the two, thereby making peace,
2:16 and reconciling both groups to God in one body through the cross, on which he eliminated the hostility.
[International Standard Version]

The verses we just read, mention the “blessing of having been brought near.” I suppose that the true blessing lies in the peace and security of the people. Mr. Kenji Goto acted for this purpose. He sought peace and security, but he could not get it because he was captured and murdered by the Islamic State. This happened because this present world is ruled by the Devil. We cannot expect to obtain true peace and security in this world. It simply makes our lives much more difficult. However, when we think of what Jesus has accomplished for us, it makes us feel blessed. Our lives cannot be terminated by anything, even by death. This belief makes all believers of Jesus live constructive lives in peace. No matter how hard the reality that lies in front of their eyes, they do not need to worry at all. Of course, there is one thing they should always keep in mind: unless they have peace and security in their own minds, it is impossible to build a world of peace and security no matter how hard they strive; it is an empty and meaningless effort. After all, true peace and security are matters that relate to personal characteristics.

1 Thessalonians

4:13 But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve like other people who have no hope.

4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so through Jesus God will bring those who have died with him.

4:15 For we declare to you what the Lord has told us to say: We who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have died.

4:16 With a shout of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will come down from heaven, and the dead who belong to the Messiah will rise first.

4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

4:18 So then, encourage one another with these words.

Daniel

9:1 “In the first year of the reign of Darius son of Ahasuerus, a descendant of the Medes, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans,―

9:2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, noted in the Scripture the total years that were assigned by the message from the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem: 70 years.

9:3 “So I turned my attention to the Lord God, seeking him in prayer and supplication, accompanied with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

9:4 I prayed to the Lord my God, confessing and saying: ‘Lord! Great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant and gracious love for those who love him and obey his commandments,

9:5 we’ve sinned, we’ve practiced evil, we’ve acted wickedly, and we’ve rebelled, turning away from your commands and from your regulations.
