4:1 Now then, brothers, you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, as in fact you are doing. We ask and encourage you in the Lord to do so even more.

4:2 You know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

4:3 For it is God’s will that you be sanctified: You must abstain from sexual immorality.

We have been discussing together on the subject, “the salvation that is in our hands.” Actually, we set three questions and have been trying to find the answers.

First of all, what is it that we need to obtain? The answer is the eternal life that is in Jesus.

The second question was how we can obtain it and the answer to this question was by regeneration, through the encounter with Jesus.

今、最後にお読みになりました箇所の中で、神の御心は、もちろん、我々の救いだけではなく、聖くなることです。イエス様の当時の呼びかけの一つは、誰でもわたしについてきたいと思うなら――来たくなければけっこう、わたしは強制しません――けれども、ついて来たいと思うなら、自分を捨て――たまにではなくて――日々、十字架を負い、わたしについて来なさい。

今回は「どうすれば、主のみこころを知ることができるか」について学びたいと思います。

「みこころを知る道」についてよりよく学ぶためには、ローマ人への手紙8章12節～17節および26節～29節、ピリピ人への手紙1章9節～11節、コロサイ人への手紙1章9節～11節、エペソ人への手紙3章16節～18節を読むことが有益です。結論から言えば、神のみこころは神の霊によって、ただ聖霊の働きによってのみ知ることができるということです。ですから、御霊に導かれる生活こそみこころを知る道なのです。以下では、（1）どうしたら御霊に導かれる生活をすることができるか、（2）どうすれば御霊の導きが分かるか、（3）主の導きに対する従順とその結果はどういうものか、について順に考えたいと思います。

In this article, I would like to discuss how we can understand the intentions of the Lord.

In order to learn “the way to know the will of the Lord” further, it is most helpful to read through the Epistle to Romans, chapter 8, verses 12 to 17 and verses 26 to 29; the Epistle to Philippians, chapter 1, verses 9 to 11; the Epistle to Colossians, chapter 1, verses 9 to 11 and the Epistle to Ephesians, chapter 3, verses 16 to 18. To come right to the point, the intentions of God can be understood through none but the Spirit of God and by nothing but the work of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the only way to find out what the Lord wants from us is to live according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In this article, I would like to discuss this matter from three perspectives: (1) how we can live according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, (2) how we will know where the guidance of the Holy Spirit is, and (3) the results of sincere obedience to the guidance of the Lord.

3:2 He came to Jesus at night and told him, “Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher, because no one can perform these signs that you are doing unless God is with him.”

3:3 Jesus replied to him, “Truly, I tell you emphatically, unless a person is born from above he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

3:4 Nicodemus asked him, “How can a person be born when he is old? He can’t go back into his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?”

3:5 Jesus answered, “Truly, I tell you emphatically, unless a person is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

3:6 What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

3:7 Don’t be astonished that I told you, ‘All of you must be born from above.’

3:8 The wind blows where it wants to. You hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. That’s the way it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

2:1 Therefore, if there is any encouragement in the Messiah, if there is any comfort of love, if there is any fellowship in the Spirit, if there is any compassion and sympathy,

2:2 then fill me with joy by having the same attitude, sharing the same love, being united in spirit, and keeping one purpose in mind.

2:3 Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves.

2:4 Do not be concerned about your own interests, but also be concerned about the interests of others.

2:5 Have the same attitude among yourselves that was also in the Messiah Jesus:

2:6 In God’s own form existed he, and shared with God equality, deemed nothing needed grasping.

2:7 Instead, poured out in emptiness, a servant’s form did he possess, a mortal man becoming. In human form he chose to be,

2:8 and lived in all humility, death on a cross obeying.

2:9 Now lifted up by God to heaven, a name above all others given, this matchless name possessing.

2:10 And so, when Jesus’ name is called, the knees of everyone should fall wherever they’re residing.

27:47 When some of the people standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling for Elijah.”

27:48 So one of the men ran off at once, took a sponge, and soaked it in some sour wine. Then he put it on a stick and offered Jesus a drink.

27:49 But the others kept saying, “Wait! Let’s see if Elijah will come and save him.”

27:50 Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice again and died.

27:51 Suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom, the earth shook, rocks were split open,

27:52 tombs were opened, and many saints who had died were brought back to life.

27:53 After his resurrection, they came out of their tombs and went into the Holy City and appeared to many people.

27:28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.

27:29 Twisting some thorns into a victor’s crown, they placed it on his head and put a stick in his right hand. They knelt down in front of him and began making fun of him, saying, “Long live the king of the Jews!”

27:30 Then they spit on him and took the stick and hit him repeatedly on his head.

27:31 When they had finished making fun of him, they stripped him of the robe, put his own clothes back on him, and led him away to crucify him.

27:32 As they were leaving, they found a man from Cyrene named Simon, whom they forced to carry Jesus’ cross.

27:33 When they came to a place called Golgotha (which means “Skull Place”),

27:34 they offered him a drink of wine mixed with gall. But when he tasted it, he refused to drink it.

27:35 After they had crucified him, they determined who would get his clothes by throwing dice for them.

27:36 Then they sat down there and continued guarding him.

27:37 Above his head they placed the charge against him. It read, “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

27:38 At that time two bandits were crucified with him, one on his right and the other on his left.

聖書を知らない人は、この今、読まれた箇所、ヨハネ伝1章1節から、いくら読んでもピンとこない。いったいどういうことか？みことば、みことば、神、神。いったいどういうこと。けれども、14節を見るといっぺんに明らかになる。イエス様か。

To those who don't know the Bible, the first few verses we just read from the beginning of the first chapter of John, would not make any sense at all. What is it trying to tell us? Word. Word. God. God. What do they point to?

2:4 Rather, because we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, we speak as we do, not trying to please people but God, who tests our motives.

2:5 As you know, we did not come with flattering words or with a scheme to make money. God is our witness!

God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us even when we were dead because of our offenses, made us alive together with the Messiah (by grace you have been saved). ― Ephesians 2:4-5.

As we continue our daily lives, I believe that the most important thing is to understand the true love of God through all experience. Believers are constantly exposed to severe blame and condemnation in their lives. It is only through the love of the Lord God that all difficult problems can be overcome and thus, we should always keep in mind how deeply we are loved by him. This exactly is what the “Epistle to Philemon” is trying to tell us.

This was an epistle filled with love. Paul wrote it to his old and intimate friend, Philemon, while he was captured in prison. This letter will fill all readers with heartfelt happiness.

3:2 “We may eat from the trees of the garden,” the woman answered the serpent,

3:3 “but as for the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You are not to eat from it, nor are you to touch it, or you will die.’”

3:4 “You certainly will not die!” the Shining One told the woman.

3:5 “Even God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you’ll become like God, knowing good and evil.”

3:6 When the woman saw that the tree produced good food, was attractive in appearance, and was desirable for making one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate it. Then she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate some, too.
